Hot toys Terminator Salvation John Connor(Final Battle Version)

Here we go again, after the release of 1/6th John Connor, Hot Toys come out with another version. From the way i see it, this looks like a deluxe set as it comes with an awesome Hydrobot. Though HT never mention whether is a DX set or not, but i feel they are starting to introduce the DX idea to most of the toys that sells well. We have Joker DX, TDK Batman DX, Iron man Mark 3 "DX" and now the boy that saves human asses in the future. Wonder will they come out with a Marcus DX that comes with the endo hands or maybe Star...haha. Though a tiny star will look very cute but she's really a member of the LA Branch with Kyle. Back to John Connor, well he did mention "i'll be back" in the movie, guess HT read his lips well with a final battle version that back to kick ass. Well sculpted Christian Bale HS by Kojun with the battle paint job done by JC Hong. What really makes me pumped up is the Hydrobot, just think...you will be getting a John Connor figure, hydrobot that is fully articulated and a stand that have a fallen endo that John Connor gun down. Now that's like a full package of pampering Terminator Fans. It's going to be release on the 4th quater of 2009, so get your money ready for it as this is one hell of a deal.

Three A!!!???

Once again, three A makes me curious about their upcoming project. This time a McFarlane Spawn logo that appear together with Three A logo, does this means there will be collaboration? How about the Kojima Production of Metal Gear? I know i'm very keen on getting my hand on some Metal Gear. Back to the Spawn+3A topic, wonder what type of collaboration they would come out. I'm a huge Spawn fan, got loads of the figures and some 12 inch spawn. So wonder will there be an Al Simmons 3A figure? or maybe a Haunt figure from their upcoming comic book. Well with all these teaser, a fan can just guess never ending answers untill the cards are on the table. However i do hope 3A really collaborates with either Kojima or McFarlane Spawn, and maybe both ;) As we know Ash use to work for some of the Spawn covers, so it will happen....just WHEN?????????

Hot Toys Battle Damaged Iron Man Mark 3

This is no joke, after much research, there will be a battle damaged iron man mark 3 produce by Hot Toys. It's really mind blowing, the figure is highly detailed and articulated with so many accessories. All the flaps will be open exactly like the movie, remember when Tony first test of the Mark 2? He asked Jarvis to test all the flaps and function before he take off. This figure can really represent like that part with all the flaps fully detailed like in the movie. The accessories included with two chest armor, one non-battle damaged and the other battle-damaged. Moreover, it comes with a crushed mark 3 helmet and a tony stark helmet like in the mark 2 figure. For now price is still unknown and the date of release might be on December. This looks like a DX set but somehow Hot Toys did not mention whether it is or not and i'm still very curious about the price, as i'm really interested in getting it. The following pics is all i can find at the moment and we must wait for Hot Toys to officially announce in their web site.

District 9 Prawn Mech

I went to watch district 9 and i'm so amazed with the prawn mech that Wikus pilot towards the end of the movie. I was hoping that Hot Toys will consider of making one of this baby. If it's a 1/6th scale, it's gonna be huge and the articulation is going to be fantastic. However i felt if they were to do it, there will be a bigger chance that the mech is in 1/16th scale. As there will be a 1/16th scale Matrix APU mech that Hot Toys will be releasing soon. It will looks nice next to the prawn mech if Hot Toys were too make one. Well, let's hope that Hot Toys pick this line up because i'm not in the financial situation to bid for this custom prawn mech in ebay. You can go search for district 9 mecha in ebay, there will be around 4 of it which is custom made and most of them is high in demand. There is one that i felt is the most accurate to the movie, and it's around 9inch tall. The creator is Sabretooth, a member of figure realm (http://www.figurerealm.com/viewcustomfigure.php?FID=16813). If you really dig this figure and buying this baby did cross your mind, you better hurry and hit ebay as now the bid has reach $200 with free shipping. Here's the link to the ebay auction http://cgi.ebay.com/Custom-District-9-prawn-mecha-2-0-toy-marvel-gi-joe_W0QQitemZ330356469247QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4ceac7adff&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 . Enjoy the pics and let us pray someone pick this licence up to make a prawn mech for fans of mech like me.

My favourite head sculpt artist

The name is Rovo Jin , his a new talented Korean artist that just joined the dream team of Enterbay. I have been a fan of Arnie's work after i got the Jet Li figure that he sculpted. One day i came across Rovo Jin's David Beckham HS, i'm very very impressed and now his doing a Michael Scofield HS with body tattoos in the Prison Break Series, i know i must get this figure that might be coming out in 4th quarter. Enough talking, let the pictures of David Beckham and the 1/6th Michael Scofiled Tattoo body impress us.

Hot Toys Iron Man Mark 3

Heroes aren’t born, they are built. That thought always encourage me to take out my time and write a review about this amazing Hot Toys figure which been out for quite sometime. Dear readers, I like to introduce, the Hot Toys Iron man Mark 3. What I have with us tonight is the highly articulated and movie accurate Ironman Mark 3. Since I was a kid, I came across the Iron man animated series on the tube. Yes, I will agree a man hide behind a machine suit is very catchy and any kid or grown up will be amaze about the idea. However, what really caught my attention was infect the room where Tony Stark kept his entire Iron man suit….. I know who wouldn’t want to be in that room. So that’s how I fall in love with Iron man, and I manage to catch it on screen when I was in Australia. I felt Robert Downey Jr really nail the part of representing Tony Stark and Jon Favreau did an amazing job of bringing the movie to life. The good news doesn’t just end there, even Hot Toys able to nail their Iron man figure. The movie came out in the summer of 2008; I was in Australia for my studies at the time. When I found out there’s 12 inch Iron man figure, I was dying to get one and so I start my hunting around the place I stay. However at that time all I can find was Hasbro’s 12 inch Iron man, which did a very good paint job but I was looking for something more articulated, able to represent the character in the movie and most important, fun to play with…weeee!!! To cut things short, I did not get the Hot Toys Ironman figure when it was release by them. Well, opportunity at times comes knocking on our door twice and this time I know I must get it. It was 2009 and Hot Toys release their 3rd and final batch, so my last chance to get a hold of this amazing figure and I bought it without hesitation. Now, I shall save my money for Mark 1 and wait for War machine….if only Terrence Howard still in it. Alright, not to be all weird for Terrence or anything, let’s start the review now.

Packaging:

This is by far one of the best, if not the best Hot Toys packaging. The box is actually the mark 3 chest art, when you open or flip the cover over, it show the interior of the mark 3 chest. To think that this is just for the box, Hot Toys already giving you your money’s worth by making a good design. Word that this box is sold in eBay, I can’t really remember the exact amount that people bid for it, but even the box is treated as a collectible and people willing to pay for it. So if you own one of these boxes, maybe you can hit eBay and earn some extra dough.

Sculpting:

Well, the sculpting is always accurate to the movie. The whole Iron man Mark 3 armour is just magnificent. It’s just so accurate that you can just treat it as a statue. With accuracy and likeness like that just makes you forfeit of having a statue and collecting this toy. I place it on my desk with an attack post, and when my friends came over they thought that it’s a statue. Until I show them how articulated this “statue” is. However the Robert Downey sculpt doesn’t really resemble much of the actor, I felt the likeness is not much there and I will give the sculpt a 7 in a scale of 10.

Paint:

There’s a lot of people been criticizing the paint of this Mark 3. They were saying that the colour will fade and specially the gold colour. For me, the gold has been a pretty good paint job, except for the red. It was suppose to be an apple red. If you can check out in youtube, there is a video about the making of iron man by Stan Winston studios. If I’m not mistaken, it was Jon favreau that chooses the suit to have an apple red colour. Somehow, this figure’s red is more to maroon red. With a metal like painting just at time makes me forget that it’s maroon red.

Articulation:

It’s very articulated, except for the waist, which I barely dare to twist it. Other than that, the Mark 3 able to move likes how he dances in the movie. Like I said, my friends thought that it was a statue, when I show them it’s articulated, they start to play with it and post it around. They kept asking me “can he do this? Can he do that”…. And end up with “Damn……..” I end up posing him back to my favourite post, which is the attack post. Not to forget, this Hot Toys Iron man mark 3 comes with two small rockets in both arms. Then there are flaps that can be open at the back of the armor and the legs. For the articulation, this figure really is fun to play with.

Accessories:

As we know, iron man doesn’t carry a gun around much because his entire weapon is hidden in his armour, maybe war machine might have a kick ass Gatling gun on his shoulder. But Hot Toys did provide three pairs of interchangeable hands and a Tony Stark head sculpt. Not to forget, Hot Toys always nice enough to provide a stand for your collection, so you don’t need to waste extra cash just to buy a stand for your toy.

LED feature:

The light up feature is just so movie like when you turn it up. There’s one on the chest which connected to the head to make the eyes shine and another pair of LED on both hands. I mean, the LED is so beautiful that it’s the main reason that I’m attracted into this figure, just like a siren calling out to me. I love to turn the lights on when my room is dark, out of nowhere my iron man turn into a night light. Together with great post and light feature, I really felt the presents of Iron Man.

Value:

I felt the value was again reasonable for around $160 with all the articulation, accuracy and light up feature, not to forget about the license. More over, this figure has a statue likeness, so to pay for a price like that is really cheaper than getting a statue.

Overall:

There are really quite a few of bad reviews out there regarding this figure, most of it is either the colour factor or some QC problem. For me, I was lucky to get mine in good condition and up until now I still really feel it’s an amazing figure to collect. I know some out there will think of getting it when the 2nd movie come out on 2010, but my two cents tell me that the mark3 suit will not be the same in Iron man 2. They might alter the suit a little bit, if they don’t, I don’t think Hot Toys will re-release it again. The example given for the terminator t-800 endoskeleton which up till now they still haven’t re-release it. You never know, it might be like the t-800 endoskeleton, when terminator salvation movie came out, you can only get one nearly triple the original price. So if there’s a toy store around you that have it, try to grab it, otherwise eBay is all you have in the near future.

Thanks for reading and feel free to give any comment. I don’t bite at all…I Think.

Hot Toys Terminator Salvation T-600 review

At last, my long awaited Hot Toys Terminator Salvation T-600 endoskeleton has arrived. Got it preorder long ago and now it’s finally here. Hot Toys have been pampering Terminator fans with so many figures from this summer movie Terminator Salvation. The first to come out was the t-700 endoskeleton model. Follow by the t-700 factory diorama and now the massive 14inch t-600, many more to come in the future. Tonight I’m going to give a brief review on the t-600 endoskeleton model. The t-600 was as early infiltrator terminator that created by Skynet. This massive terminator was inspired by an old Soviet Tank. Unlike the t-800 that we all know so well that have chrome surface, this t-600 looks nothing near to shiny chrome. Martin Laing wanted this old model of terminator to have a greasy, rust and dark look to it. With the shiny red eyes staring at you, this model will have a brutal look that make you pee in your pants and cry for mama if you came across one. In the first terminator movie, Kyle Reese actually mention about this t-600 model which is easier to spot with their rubbery face. Well, enough of all this terminator talks which will go on and on……. I shall cut to the chase and review this great figure that Hot Toys proudly present to us.

Packaging:

Hot toys packaging is always something I anticipate after seeing pictures of their figure prototype. They always have great design of their packaging to come with their lifelike figures. This time around, they use very hard foam that carved with a machine outlook on it. It’s the same package that they use for their t-700 package with an outer sleeve that shows the picture of t-600. Inside, the figure was place safely in the middle of the bottom cover. While the Gatling gun is well kept in a small plastic bag and attached on the upper cover.

Sculpting:

No matter how many times I look at the movie and concept art, the sculpting of this figure is accurate. From head to toe, hot toys have met the expectation of terminator fans. Everything is just so detailed and sculpted accurately like what we see in the movie. Even the ammo pack and the Gatling gun (which I will touch more about it in later part) are so detailed. The more I look at it, hot toys makes me feel like I’m in some of the movie scene where I came across this sucker gunning down on me. Hot toys have make it looks like what they show in the prototype, so you don’t need to see this figure in person as everything about the sculpting of it is so well accurate. With the size of 14inch, this t-600 does look menacing standing beside any 1/6 scale figure. The material used is just amazing, you have rubber, plastic and even pvc. I know I have already fall in love with this figure, although it’s an inferior model to the t-800 endoskeleton.

Painting:

The paint looks darker than what Hot Toys shown in the prototype pictures. However when I watch the Terminator Salvation movie, their t-600 endoskeleton have the exact color that Hot Toys used. So again, bravo to Hot Toys for meeting the accuracy of their painting. Hot toys really painted it to look like a post apocalypse war machine. With the surface rusted and some silver touch up on the piston and the fingers of the endoskeleton. It’s the paint detail that make Hot Toys figure more amazing and standout than other 1/6 figures.

Articulation:

There’s so much articulation in this figure that it somehow raise the bar for its fun factor. Everything about this figure just moves. It took me nearly 1hour just to assemble accessories and find a preferable post for it. Yes, 1hour just to post this amazing figure because it’s just so articulated, and I like to try every post that his able to offer. Every time I move the legs or the arms, the piston moves as wells. The upper body and head can move 180 degrees from left to right. The level of articulation that the head provides is just fun, as you can make the t-600 turn its head up, down, left and right, even the jaw can open or close up. Even the fingers are well articulated with very small joints to make it pose-able like human fingers. The most amazing part of articulation that I found in this figure is the shoulder. It’s just so well articulated the shoulder able to move a 360degrees and when you’re moving it forward, backward, or sideways, the piston just move together with the shoulder. It’s just so fun to examine the whole figure as it’s very, and I mean very pose-able and enables you to post your favourite menacing look that you want your t-600 endoskeleton to be.

Accessories:

The accessories given were an ammo pack that has clips to attach stably on to the back of t-600 figure and a kick ass Gatling gun to gun down Resistance soldiers. Again, everything is so way accurate that make this figure rocks so hard. Although I felt it will be quite fun if the Gatling gun can rotate like in the movies when it’s in shooting mode. But with all the articulation of this figure, one can just simply ignore it easily as the satisfaction of accuracy is way out of this world with size like that.

Value:

For a 1/6th figure that so well articulated, I felt the price is reasonable. Although plenty may argue Hot toys are at times overpriced, however I felt with the articulation and the accuracy of it’s sculpt, this is the price that you expected to get. Not to mention, you’re getting a light up figure that well articulated and artwork like statues that cost you around $157 or more is worth the money. I know I have invested smartly on this figure when I open the box.

Fragility:

The only part that is really fragile is the arms and fingers, I know I have break mine when I was too curious of the articulation. So just beware of how much you twist the arms as you don’t want to be like me, get over excited of this amazing figure and suddenly SNAP. So do the fingers, you don’t want to put too much pressure on it and make it break.

Overall:

I will give this figure a 4 and half star as it’s so well articulated and comes with light up feature just make me hard to pass it. Any terminator fan must have it as this is the only t-600 figure that looks so amazing and hot toys have really nailed it big time. There will be more version of the t-600 coming out, the Martin Laing version and the rubber face, somehow I feel I have make a right thing to have this guy preorder. The ammo pack is movie accurate and the Gatling gun is also how it supposes to be in the movie. With terminator salvation movie shown and die hard fans still into terminator although the movie does not get a good reception, the terminator toys is still so in demand. So if there is a small part of mind stopping you to get it, don’t think twice, just go out and get it because the price of this thing will be skyrocket once the demand is there. I know I have regret of getting the hot toys t-800 figure as the price right now is ridiculously price out. I love my t-600 figure now and hope you will get it as it’s been a great addition to my collectibles.

P/s : Better photo coming soon :)

As we have promised, this is our latest photos of T-600.
